Dig:it is an eLearning platform that is designed for the senior population. It matches participants with online instructors in a wide variety of digital-related subjects. The one-on-one 22 minutes online sessions are built to provide hands-on knowledge and encourage learning. This unique “small chunks” structure gives the participant the flexibility to ask a specific question or to participate in multiple sessions. Dig:it aims to help the senior population with their growing digital knowledge gap to cultivate their independence and confidence in daily digital life.
Background:
Two main demographic trends will have a dramatic impact on the age structure of the world population in the 21st century:

An increasingly older population as a result of unprecedented improvement in life expectancy.

A concomitant sharp decline in fertility. Therefore, worldwide by 2020 for the first time in mankind’s history, the number of people aged 65 and over will exceed that of children under 5 years of age.

Opportunity:
New devices and technologies surround us and shape our daily life. From social interactions to online shopping and entertainment, we get through the day with a help of a variety of online tools. However, these technologies are rapidly changing, and therefore keeping updated might be overwhelming. As a result, people tend to develop an increasing gap in their digital knowledge, an effect that is especially accentuated in the senior population. There are numerous digital learning options in the market which have passive content or experiences. These platforms do not provide the senior user with an individually tailored solution suitable to close the digital knowledge gap.

Dig:it is a platform intended to provide a bridge for closing digital knowledge gaps and cultivate an individual’s independence and confidence in the digital sphere. The platform is tailor-made for the senior population and based on Artificial Intelligence technology that seamlessly connects between users posed with digital knowledge challenges and experts who can teach and guide them.
